Men
Day 1
|
 |
There has been a lot of
discussion about the scoring at the comps over the years, in
the bar after the event and on our TelemarkTalk Forum. With this
in mind, we decided to do something a little different in our
latest video from Crested Butte. In this one, along side the
competitor's name, we put their score for the run shown. We also
tried to show more of each run than in the past, we included
the entire run of most of the ten competitors featured in the
video.
|
For purposes of comparison
we have also included the Day 1 run of a competitor who did not
make the cut (sorry Andy T.) and we led off with Joseph Sipe's
really clean and fluid run as a sort of benchmark. Sipe was only
the third men's division athlete to drop in when he put together
a fluid run with a medium sized but very smooth air to score
33.2 points. Fifty more competitors followed Sipe, but by the
end of the afternoon his sweet run was the eighth highest score
of the day among the men.
Watch the video and see
how you would have scored these runs. Does the judging make sense
to you, or not? What, if anything, would you change in the way
these comps are scored? Let's talk about it on the Forum. At
left is a list of the competitors in the video, in order of appearance,
along with their Day 1 scores. |

A short note on Windows
Media 9: if you
haven't updated your WM Player to play Windows Media 9 files
this might be the time. With a little tweaking we now squeezing
Mpeg or better quality out of these WM9 versions at nearly half
the file size... we'll be offering more of these in the future. |
