Karhu Hires Unparalleled Series
Filmmaker Josh "Bones"
Murphy As Marketing Consultant
Telemarktips.com received the following
press release on Friday, January 14, 2005:
Burlington, VT -- Trak
Sports USA, Inc. has retained the service of filmmaker and marketing
consultant Josh Murphy to further promote their brand and move
Telemark, or Freeheel skiing, towards the mainstream snowsports
market. Murphy, an award winning filmmaker and founder of Unparalleled
Productions, coined the term "Freeheel" skiing and
has been making films that have redefined the sport and brought
its modern image to life on the big screen. Through his films
and marketing efforts, Murphy has brought Freeheel skiing to
new audiences and broken down stereotypes surrounding the sport.
"Freeheel skiing is not just backcountry skiing anymore!"
Murphy said. "It used to be that people got into the sport
because the gear was light and they wanted to access the backcountry.
Now skiers try Freeheel skiing and fall in love with it because
the feeling is so unique. With modern skis, boots, and bindings
it has become an exciting sport that is growing at resorts and
in the backcountry."
Charlie Lozner, General Manager for Trak
Sports USA, announced the move to hire Murphy as a step to further
build Karhu's Telemark ski line. "Working with Josh is a
perfect match for Karhu as the exciting image he has worked to
convey is just what we want for the Karhu brand. It's our feeling
that the rapid growth in Freeheel skiing is coming from Alpine
skiers and snowboarders who are looking for something new. Karhu
wants to capture the imagination of these new converts with an
aspiring image of Freeheel skiing. We believe that the Telemark
market has tremendous room for growth as more people try the
sport."
Murphy and Lozner will be giving a presentation
at the upcoming SIA.05 show in Las Vegas entitled "Progressive
Freeheel Skiing: Understanding the Retail Potential of Telemark
Skiing." According to SIA president David Ingemie, SIA is
excited to promote the event as the Snowsports industry continues
to see strong growth in the sport of Freeheel skiing. |
