Powderwhores To Produce
Feature-length Tele Video
|
February 3, 2005-- A group of young, strong tele skiers who call themselves
the "Powderwhores," have announced that they are currently
filming a feature-length video to be released in the fall of
2005.
We met with Noah Howell, Andy Jacobson
and Andy Rosenberg at the Outdoor Retailer and SIA shows last
week where they filled us in on their plans, also giving us a
preview of the absolutely stunning powder skiing footage they
already have in the can. |

The Utah-based Powderwhores have been taking
full advantage of the prodigious and deep powder the Wasatch
Range has been getting this year. The footage we saw had powder
snow not just blowing over the heads of the skiers, but rather
the skiers themselves were disappearing with every turn below
the snow's surface entirely, eventually porpoising back to the
top in a cloud of black smoke, only to quickly drop back down
through 5, 6 or 7 feet of the deepest powder we think we've ever
seen in a ski or snowboard film.
The Powderwhores short video, winner of
the NET Film Fest last fall, was a huge hit recently on TeleVision.
In the interview we conducted at OR last Sunday night, these
tele athlete/filmmakers told us that the response they received
here on Telemarktips played a big part in their decision to go
ahead and line up sponsors, and
commit to a full-length video production. "That was a big
inspiration for us, hearing everyone say 'that's what we want
to see' and that sort of thing," said the Powderwhores'
Noah Howell. "Powder is what we like to do, and also the
big mountain stuff."
Deep powder, extremely aggressive big mountain
lines and bold air was the formula the Powderwhores used to seriously
wow their viewers in this year's short film. We are stoked to
see these guys will be coming back with a major release next
fall!
