Voile Announces Several Improvements
To Its Hardwire CRB Telemark Binding
November, 2004-- New
for the 2004-2005season, the folks from Voile has made some solid
improvements to their telemark venerable and proven release binding
line. Using their new in-house CAD/CAM system, Voile was able
to 3D model and manufacture the tooling for its new V-tech release
binding riser. The Utah-based backcountry ski and gear manufacturer
has reportedly invested a substantial amount of cash in this
new in-house technology, enabling them to further innovate their
large product line.
Voile says its new V-tech release binding
riser will dramatically improves the overall function and performance
of the Voile Hardwire CRB. Below are some close ups of the new
benefits of the V-tech riser, as described by the company in
its latest technical bulletin:
1.) Molded from superior strength glass-filled
nylon, the V-tech riser is a 2 stage mount, where all hardware
is pre-mounted to the the riser and the riser is mounted to the
ski. The riser has an industry standard 4-hole pattern that matches
metal insert skis. The release barrel position is factory set
thus providing a more consistent retention and release. We think
our retailer ski techs will love us for the fact that all release
hardware is pre-mounted and tested in our shop leaving them with
a straightforward mount to the ski.
2.) A major new benefit, the V-tech riser
provides an easier re-entry to the binding after an on-snow release.
A deep slot at the rear of the binding riser allows the binding
clearance for re-entry, but does not affect the release or retention.
Compared to previous models, it takes approx. 50% less force
to step back into the binding after an on-snow release.
3.) The V-tech riser has a 3 degree ramp
to compensate for the natural curve or rocker of
a telemark boot. This keeps the heel of the boot flat and stable
on the heel pad of the binding.
Voile combines all of this new release binding technology with
one of the better performing telemark bindings in its Hardwire
CRB (shown below), or the more backcountry skiing oriented might
prefer the tourability and redundancy of the Hardwire 3-pin CRB
(above). They both carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price
of just $158.00, complete.
