You never know what or who you will see
at the NATO Telemark Festival at Mad River Glen in Vermont. With
more than 700 participants each day and another 2 or 300 freeheelers
on the mountain, tele-people watching just doesn't get any better.
Toss in some gear envy, sunshine and cold beer and you have part
of the formula that makes the festival so darn much fun.
Saturday afternoon Telemarktips.com shop
tech article contributor Y.K. Idgadambr showed up with his innovative
step-in HammerHead mod, and drew a crowd as we video-taped him
demonstrating how it works and telling us about his creation.
Essentially Y.K. has come up with a variation on Voile's old
"V-Cam" heel throw but with improved geometry and a
solid new idea: the heel throw has a roller built into a channel
that hold the heel throw in place.
This roller is the key to making the thing
work, it removes friction from the system, allowing Y.K. to design
an aggressive cam that really cranks on the clamp-in pressure
or "preload." Check out the video... |
